High-quality gear plays a crucial role in my dirt biking adventures, giving me that much needed peace of mind while I am out exploring. From a resilient helmet to durable riding boots to reliable comms, each item has ensured I have a safe and comfortable riding experience while helping me push my boundaries. As I continue to venture into new terrain and conquer challenging trails, I know my gear has my back out there. So whether you are looking to learn how to dirt bike or simply want to upgrade your gear, here are the things that have worked well for me β€Έ
A little about my dirt biking journey…
My dirt biking journey began in July 2023 when, after a couple years of encouragement from my boyfriend, I bought a Kawasaki KLX140RF and a full gear setup (as outlined below). Little did I know, it would be one of the best purchases of my life as dirt biking has opened the door to so many unforgettable adventures and experiences. With each ride, I have been able to explore breathtaking landscapes – from the San Juan Mountains in Colorado to the mesmerizing red sand deserts in Utah.
In addition to being able to explore new places that would have remained inaccessible before, dirt biking has forced me to push my physical and mental limits, overcoming the fears and anxieties associated with such a demanding sport. Learning to navigate challenging terrain and do my first wheelie (yeah!) gave me a profound sense of accomplishment, fostering resilience and determination that now translates into other areas of my life. So if you’re thinking of buying a dirt bike and taking the plunge into this wild sport, if I can do it – so can you!
Protective Gear
Whether you’re tackling rugged terrain or having a mellow day on the trails, wearing a helmet, knee pads, and other protective gear can significantly reduce the risk of a serious injury. The right gear not only provides protection, but also enhances comfort by giving you that added peace of mind, allowing you to focus on your performance and enjoy the thrill of the ride without worrying about your safety too much.
When I decided to learn how to dirt bike, I realized that high-quality protective gear and apparel was crucial due to the inevitability of crashes. Since then, I have fallen on boulders, creek beds, dirt, sand, mud, and snow, and can confirm this gear meets the “new rider” crash test.
